What is Quality Workmanship ?
Sadly, you, as the purchaser of this new home or new unit are subject to the building company’s interpretation of quality workmanship and industry standards. We find that many people at handover of a new unit or new home do not understand or even know what the relevant industry standards are and do not have the skills or knowledge to identify quality or poor workmanship.

MAINTENANCE PERIOD INSPECTIONS
We also conduct 3, 6 or 12 month maintenance inspections during the defects liability period. A builder must conduct these compulsory inspections provided the new owner requests them. We can assist by conducting an inspection on your behalf to identify any problems. Some items we find at a maintenance inspection include, cracking in plasterboard or cornices, cracked floor tiles from movement, binding internal doors, leaking traps under sinks or basins and the breakdown of sealant.
STAGE INSPECTIONS
In addition to Handover/Practical Completion and Maintenance Inspections, Handovers.com offer Stage Inspections throughout your build. These include Frame Inspections, Lock up/Enclosed Inspections and Fixing Inspections.
These inspections are to identify non-structural quality defects, workmanship and incomplete works, something the Building Certifier and Engineer do not look at and is usually up to the building supervisor and owner. The main benefit of having these inspections is to identify defects earlier in the build process to avoid additional work by the builder and unnecessary holding costs.
